Food Justice Collaborative

Strengthening Northeast LA’s Food Justice Ecosystem

The Food Justice Collaborative (FJC) is a project with grassroot leaders facilitated by LA Más to support collective food justice efforts in Northeast LA (NELA) with the intention of growing collaboration and exploring economic sustainability for community members. We aim to provide participants with the necessary tools, skills and information to support collective decision making where we center discussions on food justice and collective care as it relates to the land and community. As part of this process, FJC members will develop a plan to allocate seed funding provided by LA Más and decide if there is a desire to continue working together as a cooperative entity at the end of six months.

Project Goals:

  • Support collaboration across NELA food justice efforts that result in greater capacity

  • Provide more information on worker cooperatives and a space to learn

  • Make decisions collectively and develop a plan to allocate funds for collective benefit
